Safety: Spraying indoors is done with proper ventilation and safety measures in place, minimizing exposure to harmful chemicals created by 2K products.
Less Weather Impact: No risk of weather-related issues such as dust, rain, humidity or temperature fluctuations affecting the finish quality & it's ability to bond as best as possible.
Tent or Trailer Setup at Home
Weather Exposure: Tent & Trailer setups are vulnerable to weather conditions like wind, humidity & temperature, which can lead to imperfections in the finish due to dust, moisture, or temperature changes.
Accessibility: Spraying at home can be more convenient for the refinisher, eliminating the need for transportation of cabinet doors.
Cost-Effective: Setting up a tent can be less expensive than using a professional shop, especially for smaller projects.
Flexibility: Home setups allow for more flexibility in timing and scheduling, accommodating the homeowner’s needs such as faster turn around times.

Neighbours: Having a tent set up will surely mean exhausting fumes and possible overspray into the area around your home & exposing the smell & any overspray to your neighbours. Where 2K products are concerned the hardener is toxic & one should consider this when exposing this to your neighbours.

The recommended application temperature ranges from 60°F to 77°F (15.5°C to 25°C) to achieve optimal curing, bonding, and durability. Straying from this range can compromise longevity. Seasonal changes are crucial factors.
Humidity is even more critical, with 40% to 50% being ideal. You can extend it to 60% with minimal issues, but exceeding 60% can hinder proper water evaporation, affecting curing more in 2K than 1K coatings due to the hardener's timed setup. High temperatures accelerate this process, and humidity can become trapped between the surface and cabinet door, reducing bonding and cross-linking effectiveness. Consequently, 2K will not perform as intended, lacking the designed chemical and moisture resistance.
The choice between in-shop spraying and a tent setup at home depends on factors like desired finish quality, budget, and convenience. In-shop spraying generally provides better quality and consistency, while tent setups offer flexibility and cost savings but come with higher weather-related risks. Applying these coatings in over 60% humidity will diminish the finish quality regardless of the brand.
Shop environments are much easier to control compared to outdoor conditions where temperature and humidity cannot be effectively managed.
Many businesses offer the at-home system as a premium service, which is faster than a shop system, and they charge more for it than conventional in-shop systems for some reason.
Providing this type of service is clearly limited in Southern Ontario due to seasonal variations.
Ultimately, the tent system has several limitations, which is why we have chosen the in-shop approach since 2008. Having completed over 935 kitchens with our system, we know it delivers the best possible outcome for longevity given the controls we have.
